In 1975, Don Harris opened a small agency specializing in surety bonds for Las Vegas based construction firms. In seven years, Donald A. Harris & Associates became the number one surety agency in Las Vegas, the largest municipality in the state of Nevada. In 1982, Don’s son Jim Harris formed Harris Insurance Services, carrying the second generation of Harris’ into the insurance business, Jim led the firm until 1997 when he sold his business to join a larger national company, In the mid 1990’s the Harris Insurance Services operation became the largest independent insurance agency in Las Vegas.

Trained by his father Jim and for about four years at another independent Las Vegas agency, Greg Harris formed his own shop, The Harris Agency in 2005 in association with the Philadelphia-based entity, Union One Insurance Group. The affiliation with Union One opens up new insurance markets, including Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) facilities for larger clients seeking self-insured risk financing solutions.
